WELCOME to the official
ORANGE COUNTY HEALTH CARE COUNCIL web site!
Health Care Matters, Summer 2010 now available
The Health Care Council, with a track record of 24 years as Orange County’s unique voice for access to improved health care, is striking out in a new direction – we are planning to be the County’s leading information source on local, state and federal health care issues which affect Orange County residents, with objective and reliable data available to the public. To do this, we need your help. Please join us, and help with your tax deductible contributions, so that we may continue to make objective and reliable information on health care issues available to the public.
Our Board of Directors has developed the following objectives for the coming year:
- Objective 1) Investigate and support Health Care Reform[1] (at all government levels) and determine how it affects Orange County residents.
- Objective 2) Collaborate with UCI School of Medicine (also other universities and colleges) to develop health policy analyses and public information.
- Objective 3) Meet with all elected officials to inform them of new directions and get feedback on what critical information they need.
- Objective 4) Advocate to increase financial support for Safety Net[2] providers--in order to improve access to care and quality of care.
- Objective 5) Draft concept papers to disseminate to stakeholders on critical areas of need, including children, older adults, persons with disabilities, women, the homeless, and other vulnerable populations using such indicators as the Prop. 10 report[3], OCHNA[4] and other sources to disseminate to stakeholders.

Incorporated in 1994, the Council became a 501 (c)(3) non-profit public benefit corporation in October of 1996. The Council is a free-standing independent community based coalition of the organizations concerned about health care and is funded entirely by grants, service contracts and contributions.
The Health Care Council gratefully acknowledges a generous grant from Hoag Memorial Hospital, Presbyterian to provide for this web site.
