Volume 2 Issue 46 Spring 2007

The pie charts above show graphically where we are, and where we should be going.

Currently, more than half of health care funding already comes out of taxes.  All we need to do, to fund a fair and rational health care system, is to stop giving away our health care dollars to the “Private Health Insurers” who don’t ensure anything but their own profits, and the plans who don’t plan for anything but their own ridiculously inflated salaries and perks!

Currently, the “Private Sector” collects almost half of every health care dollar, and pays for only about a quarter of our health care.  The “standard in the industry” we are told, is 15% for overhead, and 85% for services. Yet we are still seeing this broken health care delivery system being ripped off to the tune of thirty to forty percent by the “market forces.”

In a single payer system, it will be possible to curb profiteering and gouging.  It certainly is not possible when there are hundreds of plans and policies, all with different exclusion

s, premiums, coverages, co-payments, restrictions, forms, formularies, and deductibles.  It’s up to us, the taxpayers and patients, to stop the escalation of health care costs, the sky-rocketing costs of premiums and the ridiculous excuses of politicians and industry lobbyists, and get a universal health care system enacted.  We are already spending more then enough on health care to cover everyone with comprehensive health insurance.

Are you listening, Arnold?
